A.S.T.C #516, Yonsei University 연세대학교 응용해석 및 계산센터 세미나 Partial Differential Equations and Applied Mathematics Seminar Title A Hybrid Wave-Propagation/Spectral Method for Micro-Macro Partitioned Kinetic Models Speaker Prof. James Rossmanith Affiliation Iowa State University Date July 26th, Tues., 10:30~11:30A.M. Location A.S.T.C #516, Yonsei University Abstract The dynamics of gases can be simulated using kinetic or fluid models. Kinetic models are valid over most of the spatial and temporal scales that are of physical relevance in many application problems; however, they are computationally expensive due to the high-dimensionality of phase space. Fluid models have a more limited range of validity, but are generally computationally more tractable than kinetic models. One critical aspect of fluid models is the question of what assumptions to make in order to close the fluid model.
