VEDIC MTHEMATIC

VEDIC MATHEMATIC Welcome to the wonderful world of "Vedic" mathematics, a science that its founder claims was lost due to the advent of modern mathematics. Vedic mathematics is said by its founder to be a gift given to this world by the ancient sages of India.

ABOUT….!!!! It is a system for limited arithmetic and polynomial calculation which is simpler and more enjoyable than the equivalent algorithms of modern mathematics.

WHEN DID IT STARTED Indian mathematics emerged in the Indian subcontinent from 1200 BCE until the end of the 18th century. important contribution were made by scholars like Aryabhata, Brahmagupta, Mahāvīra, Bhaskara II, Madhava of Sangamagrama and Nilakantha Somayaji.

TRICKS WE WILL COVER Multiplying any number with ‘11’ Squaring any number with ‘5’ Multiply any two numbers from ‘11’ to ‘20’ Square any two digit number. Multiplying any number by ‘9’s

Multiplying any number with ‘11’ Take the original number and imagine a space between the two digits (in this example we will use 52) 5_2 Now add the two numbers together and put them in the middle: 5_(5+2)_2 = 5_7_2 That is it – you have the answer: 572.

MULTIPLYING ANY NUMBER WITH ‘5’ Take any number, then divide it by 2 (in other words, halve the number). If the result is whole, add a 0 at the end. If it is not, ignore the remainder and add a 5 at the end. Ex: 2682 x 5 = (2682 / 2) & 5 or 0 2682 / 2 = 1341 (whole number so add 0) ANS = 13410

multiplying any two numbers from 11 to 20 Take 15 x 13 for example.. Place the larger no. first in your mind and then do something like this Take the larger no on the top and the second digit of the smaller no. in the bottom. 15 3 The rest is quite simple. Add 15+3 = 18 . Then multiply 18 x 10 = 180 ... Now multiply the second digit of both the no. (ie; 5 x 3 = 15) Now add 180 + 15 Here is the answer 180 + 15 = 195 .

SQUARE OF ANY TWO DIGIT NUMBERS Take any number such as 77. Now add or subtract the number to make it to its nearest multiple of 10. In this case, add 3 to the number to reach the nearest 10, i.e. 77+3=80 Now, (77+3) x (77-3)=80 x 74=5920 The number add was 3. Now square the number and add it to the above product. Square of 3=9 5920+9=5929

MULTIPLYING ANY NUMBER BY 9’s In this type of multiplication, the multiplier (9's) and the multiplicand should have equal number of digits. Take numbers as 567 and 999. Subtract  567 by 1, 567- 1=566 The complement of 567 (1000-567) is 433 Therefore the answer is 566433 ("566" "433")
