Youth Centres Lanark County provided funding in 2015 of $175,000 for the following Youth Centres: Carleton Place and District Youth Centre Lanark Highlands Youth Centre Youth Action Kommittee Smiths Falls and District Club for Youth Mississippi Mills Summer Program

Youth Centres Youth Centres continue to gather data through their ongoing registration process which they developed as a coalition to gather common data. Following is a brief summary of each Youth Centre which was provided in their annual report.

Lanark Highlands Youth Centre Registered Members: 120 Age Group: 10-18 yrs Age Groupings: 10-15 yrs (85%) 16-18 yrs (15%) Municipalities Served: Lanark-71% DNE - 4% Carleton Pl – 4% Perth -9% Tay Valley - 8% Other – 4% Reasons for Service: Recreation-91% Socialization-88% Education-61% Drop-in-51% Life Skills-62% Programs: After School Program 4H Program Community Garden Training Courses Hours of Service: Monday - Friday: 3:00 pm - 8:00 pm Staffing: Executive Director Youth Supervisor Youth Program Developer Summer Students/ Contracts 2015 Highlights Programs- 4H with over 46 members completing 4 projects. The Youth Centre paid for all membership fees to ensure the program was accessible to all youth. CPR/First Aid, Babysitting Courses, Paddlemaking, sports programs Local Involvement in Adopt-A-Road, Christmas Parade, and BBQ fundraisers for the Scarlett Run. The centre hosted multiple excursions throughout the year. Including: Canoeing, Mont Cascade, L’il Rays Reptiles, Pan Para Pan Games.

Youth Action Kommittee Perth Registered Members: 562 Age Group: 10 – 24 yrs Age Groupings: 12-15yrs (57.3%), 16-18yrs (36.4%), 19-24yrs (6%) Municipalities Served: Perth - 47% Miss Mills -16% DNE -18% Tay Valley - 8% Smiths Falls - 5% Lanark Highlands - 5% Beckwith - 1% Reasons for Service: Drop In – 100% Recreation – 100% Socializing – 100% Education – 55% Life Skills – 20% Programs: Rainbow Alliance for Youth Crisis Support Community Involvement Skills Link Homework help Addictions Awareness Sports/ Recreation Meal Program Homeless Youth Support Hours of Service: Monday – Friday 2:00 pm -7:00 pm Staffing: Executive Director Program Director Program Coordinator Skills Link Coordinator X3 2015 Highlights Participation in numerous community events, raise awareness of Centre and services. Numerous fundraising opportunities ie Polar Bear Plunge, Great Tay Duck Race, Summer Camp Activities, Stewart Park Festival Increase in programs offered (ie. Fitness Club) Executive Director able to secure multiple grants. Referrals for mental health services, housing outreach services Looking at moving into a larger space and shared services with other agencies.

Carleton Place and District Youth Centre Registered Members: 697 Age Group: 8 -19+yrs Age Groupings: 8-12 yrs (26%), 13-15 yrs (20%), 16-18 yrs (40%) 19+ yrs (13%) Municipalities Served: Carleton Place – 44% Beckwith – 20% Mississippi Mills – 8% Perth – 11% Smiths Falls – 15% Lanark – 2% Reason for Service: Drop-In – 52% Recreation – 43% Social – 52% Education – 71% Life Skills – 70% Programs: Drop In Life Skills Sports/ Recreation COREYouth Summer Camp Kidz in the Kitchen Housing/ Homeless Support Hours of Service: Monday – Friday 7:30 am – 9:00 pm Staffing: Executive Director Program Director Front Line Staff X2 2015 Highlights Increase in membership over last year with a total 697 registered members with 6669 visits. Staff busy implementing new programs, as well as maintaining the current programs offered. Hosted another successful golf tournament this year raising $11,500. Had multiple events; Pool Tournaments, yoga workshops, Mont Cascades, Laser Tag, Logo’s Land

Smiths Falls and District Club for Youth 2015 Highlights Increased hours of operation from 30 to 40 hrs per week Applied for several grants- Six grants were approved throughout the year that help with the costs associated with staff, snack programming, After School Sports and Recreation, on site renovations Held multiple special events throughout the year that included; United Way – My Town’s got Talent, Dances, Street Toll, Service Club partnerships, Festival volunteers Referrals to community service agencies mental health, Housing services Registered Members: 247 Age Group: 11-19 yrs Age Ranges: 10-13 yrs (4%), 14-16 yrs (37%), 17-19 yrs (59%) Municipalities Served: (top three) Smiths Falls - 78% Perth - 4% Miss Mills - 3% Perth 4% Montague – 2% Carleton Place - 2% DNE – 2% Tay Valley – 1% Other – 4% Reasons for Service: (top five) Drop in – 92% Snack – 91% Recreation – 72% Life Skills – 68% Homework – 45% Programs Drop in Nutrition Recreation Training Sexual Health Housing Support Homework Club Workshops Hours of Service: Monday - Friday 2:30 pm - 8:30 pm Staffing: Executive Director Program Coordinator Summer Student Child and Youth Worker

Mississippi Mills Summer Program TPYS closed in October 2014 Recognized a need to continue to offer service to youth Youth Forum Lanark County approved funding of $15,000 from summer program Now moving forward with a new Youth Centre Interim committee in place Reviewing permanent site locations and Board of Directors
