LET’S TALK LIFE with Akea Words of wisdom from someone who’s been there, done that, is still making mistakes and learning from them, … and is still smiling!  I RUN THIS !!!!!

Transition means change… And change can be a good thing!

Discussion with our Young Adult Expert  What are you worried about? What do you want to know? What did you have difficulty with when you switched doctors? What is it that you want to do with your life? At the end of the day it is yours!

TRANSITIONING…. Changing doctors can be hard for you, know that it is not a bad thing, it is a sign of you growing up. This is a good time to show how you have grown and matured. Take charge. You can manage your own health if you choose too, there is nothing wrong with getting a little help from friends, family, and doctors.

Friends, Family, and more…. Setting up a network of friends and family can make it easier to cope. Sometimes having a psychologist helps by having someone to help you find ways to deal with all the things in your life that you are having a hard time with.

Parents They say watching us grow up can be a bittersweet feeling for parents. Always be proud of your accomplishments, your parents are. Even parents recognize that you have to make mistakes so that you can learn from them.

EDUCATION AND YOU Sometimes things come up medically that make school difficult. You are not alone. If you should chose to finish high school and go to college there are all sorts of programs to help you along the way. NEVER DOUBT THE POSSIBLITIES

WANNA WORK ? Getting a job can take up some free time in a constructive way and who couldn’t use a few extra dollars in there pocket. Not to mention you might find something you are really good at and that you like. Guess what? There are vocational programs to help you do this too if you don’t think you can do it alone.

Making Mistakes … and learning from them! You are going to make mistakes, and it is ok! Most important is that you learn something from your mistakes and try not to make the same mistakes more than once.

GROWING PAINS…. Moving out can be a rewarding experience if you think you ready, even if you don’t think you are ready. Sometimes you don’t know what you can do until you do it. There are all sorts of options. This is a good thing to talk to your social worker about. There are programs out there for you! Take advantage of them.

Future Goals If you can dream it, you can achieve it! Set short term goals to reach your long term goals. Don’t be afraid to set goals, DO NOT LIMIT YOURSELF, YOU CAN DO IT! Know that at all times you are in control of what happens next.

ENDLESS POSSIBLITIES…… Know that at all times you are in control, think of what you want to happen next, and then know that you can do it. All things are possible, just most of the time we need a little help along the way. Everybody needs help at some point in their life. You can do it, just say to yourself….., I RUN THIS!!!!!!!!!!

Questions, Concerns, or Comments…, Talk life with me!
