What is Girl Discrimination? Girl discrimination or gender discrimination is when women are treated differently because of there gender. Girls in discriminating countries don’t have the same opportunities as men do. This incudes not having the right to education, paying careers or choosing their own husband.

Which Countries Discriminate Girls? Many countries discriminate girls, for example in Iraq, Jordan, Morocco, Oman and Yemen women cant travel without their husbands permission. Girl Discrimination is also in: Jordan, Egypt, Indonesia, Turkey, Iran, Malaysia, Algeria, India, South Korea, South Arabia.

Education In Afghanistan and many other countries where girls are discriminated, most girls are illiterate. Illiterate means they can’t read or write. Only 18% of women between ages 15 and 25 can read in Afghanistan.

Hiring and Jobs Finding a job can be hard in countries where girls are discriminated. But even if you do find a job, it’s usually without payment. In Canada girls are lucky, they have the same rights as men, however women only earn 70% of what men make.

The fear of mothers Pregnant mothers in discriminated countries hope there child wont be a girl because they know just how hard it is to live in world without education or much choice of what they want to do Even though they feel blessed to have their child they pray with all there heart that someone realizes that we are all equal and puts a stop to it.

When will this stop No one knows when it will stop but most people including me think the sooner the better.

Interesting facts In 2015 only half of the worlds working aged women were working compared to 77% of working men. 62 million girls are denied and education all over the world.

How is Canada helping? Even though Canada is really doing pretty well compared to others we still have a problem with payment. Women are still not being payed as much as men, but hopefully Canada will no longer be discriminating women in a couple years!

Who is helping? There are many companies helping have you seen the commercial done by “PLAN because I am a girl”. They are very good at helping make sure that everyone is aware of the tragedy.

Thanks for watching!!!!
