Reflecting on reading and lecture Your ecological systems – where do you fit? ‘microsystem’ all the environments a learner inhabits, together with the face-to-face interactions within those environments. Examples include the home, the family and language used. ‘mesosystems’ - interaction between two or more systems which influence the learner directly. Examples include: how and whether an education setting values and builds positive home/school relationships. ‘Exosystem’ systems refer to the environments and relationships which the child does not experience first hand, but which have an indirect influence on them. Examples are: opportunities for employment in the locality or parents’ working hours. The broadest context is the ‘macrosystem’ in which all the other systems are embedded. Every person is a part of a wider political, economic, social and cultural setting which influences the world of individual learners. DRAW YOUR OWN ECOLOGY! Reflecting on reading and lecture

Assessment two - structure Ensure you use correct Harvard Referencing and Academic English – look at examples and resources we have shown you to help with this, and your feedback from essay 1. Which piece of writing are you considering and how will you analyse that piece of writing? A concise summary of the paper / learning theories Write a concise summary of the key points in your chosen piece of writing. Make use of reading to support the key points. Discuss the theories of learning which are relevant to the piece of writing.

The trustworthiness of the research Apply Lincoln and Guba’s trustworthiness structure to the piece of writing. Credibility .. Have the researchers spent sufficient time in the field to learn or understand the culture, social setting, and general context the research?  Is there evidence of rapport and trust between the researchers and the participants? Transferability .. could the findings of this inquiry transfer beyond the bounds of the project? Dependability .. are findings are consistent and could they be repeated elsewhere? Confirmability .. do the findings emerge from the data and not from the predispositions bias of the researcher?‘ Conclusion Summarise your key conclusions about the piece of writing What implications do the results have for education?
