COMP9336 - Mobile Data Networking UNSW COMP9336 - Mobile Data Networking Mini Project Think about the example or better way to introduce the topic Aruna Seneviratne
Project Steps Week 3&4: Fill the PISC form and submit to join. Week 3&4: Install the app and keep it running for 4-8 weeks Week 5-9: After 4 weeks (Week 10) a data set will be provided on the course web site. Use this data to complete the assignments. Before Week 10: Fill the Survey Sheet with friendship and interest information.
Context Info - App functionality App will periodically collect following information. HAID (md5 hash of Android ID) Phone Model & OS Location (Network & GPS) Wi-Fi Availability and Near By Wi-Fi Networks Remaining capacity of the Battery/Is charging? Internet Availability Size & Remaining space of SD card Installed and Running Apps More information on the PISC form
How to install? Download the APK from course web page and open it in your Android phone. During installation you might need to enable “Unknown sources”, under Setting/Security or Setting/Applications. After installation, this application will start itself and work in background. Social Networking & Content Delivery Various work has studied how the social relationships can be used to distribute content in a privacy preserving and cost-efficient manner. i.e. - Friends share common locations more often - Friends tend to have similar interests. We capture this information in the “Mobile Assignment”- Survey sheet.
Assignment - Part 1 & Part 2 Data Pre-Processing & Visualization - Apply a clustering algorithm on the dummy data to extract points of interests. Extract the number of users in the experiment using the data files - For each user plot a scatter plot of Wi-Fi network connected against the time of day Similarity Matrices - For each user pair in the dataset calculate the similarity measures Spatial Co-Location Rate, Spatial Cosine (ref: Hand Out) 30 marks
Assignment - Part 3 Data Analysis - Study the differences in the similarity measurements between friends and non-friends. Does friends have similar mobility patterns? - Prepare brief report on the results 60 marks Can you think of other similarity measures which can be used for this analysis? Define, Implement and Analyze values for friends and non-friends 20 bonus marks
