Pre Assessment Activity TSI

TSI Assessment What is the TSI Assessment? What is a passing score? What are the exemptions for TSI? What is on the test? How much does it cost? When is the test given? What happens when I finish the test? Sample Questions

What are the passing scores? The score range on the TSI Assessment in all sections is 310-390. TSI Math- College Readiness - 350 TSI Reading – 351 TSI Writing – 5 on the essay or 340-390 with a 4 on the essay What if I score below the passing standard? Diagnostics Adult Basic Education

You could be exempt from the TSI. ACT – composite score of a 23 with a 19 in English and 19 in Math SAT- After March 2016 - exemptions with 480 EBRW and/or 530 Math Can have partial exemptions and only need 1-2 parts of TSI.

What is on the test? TSI Math is 20 questions that covers the four content areas. TSI Reading is 24 questions with 10-12 items in each section of the diagnostic test. TSI Writing is 20 questions with 10-12 items in each section of the diagnostic test. You will also be asked to write a five paragraph persuasive essay.

Lufkin High School Testing How much does the test cost? There is no cost if you are taking it in your classroom. If you are taking it on your own time: Current Lufkin High students will pay: $10.00 Math $10.00 Reading $10.00 Writing Current Lufkin High students on free or reduced lunch will pay: $5.00 Math $5.00 Reading $8.00 Writing

When is the test given? How do I register? Registration forms can be found in the Go Center and the Counseling Center Complete registration form and return to the Counseling Center along with your payment (cash or money order) Space is limited and seats will be filled in order of registration submission Make sure to meet registration deadline

What happens when I finish? You will receive a TSI placement score. If you pass: May take dual credit classes Send passing scores when applying for college If you do not pass: Placement into college readiness class as a senior May test again in the failed area(see schedule for dates) Required to take remedial classes in college without passing TSI scores or other exemption

What is my tsi Pre-assessment verification form? Your verification form is your acknowledgment of the following statement: “Were you provided with information and/or an activity to help you understand all of the following: 1. the importance of this assessment, 2. sample questions, 3. course options, and 4 resources for students?” You must document your completion of the Pre-Assessment Activity You must be able to answer “YES” to the above statement in order to take the TSI test
