Literacy Phonics Maths Notices Newsletter Reception Class 17th June 2016 Literacy This week we have been finding out information about the Bengal Tiger, Saltwater Crocodile and the King Cobra. We have used the internet and non-fiction books to help us. The children have written some fabulous sentences about each animal. During Fridays moving up afternoon the children enjoyed learning about pirates and making their own pirate map! We have all really enjoyed learning about the jungle this week. We have been specifically looking at dangerous animals, these include the Saltwater Crocodile, King Cobra and Bengal Tiger. We have all found this very interesting and exciting. In addition to this we have all enjoyed helping set up the jungle role play area. You have all worked very hard and have produced some fantastic work, well done! Phonics After a two week break we decided to refresh ourselves with the phase 3 digraphs and trigraph sounds and phase 4 cluster groups. 38 Maths This week we have been looking at measuring the length of different animals in the jungle using standard units. We made our own King Cobra snakes and measured them using the tape measure. Notices Your child has homework to complete in their Learning Together books which is due in by next Thursday. Thank you very much for all the parents who came to the trip meeting after school. It was great to hear everyone's opinions and views. Miss Brown.
