Registered Users Registered users can create new discussions or make comments against previous discussions Automatic alerts for ‘new’ conversations or notices Click ‘start a new discussion’ & complete form to create a new discussion

New Posts To create a ‘post’ click ‘Start A New Discussion’ From drop down menu select a category from:- General, Health, Environment & Safety, Metrology, ICT, Energy, Mobility, Optics & Photonics, Buildings, Other, or Production & Manufacturing Then select you ‘post type’ - Collaborative, Offering Experience, or Seeking Opportunities Enter a post title - Field prefilled with ‘Enter the title here’ In the larger text box paste the abstract of what you are offering Add a ‘tag’ this will help cross-index your post – enter your organization and also you post type – e.g. collaborative, offering experience, or seeking opportunities To complete the process click ‘submit’ and you should receive the automated system response ‘Your discussion is created successfully.’

Responding to Posts Select the ‘post’ you wish to comment on Scroll down to the bottom of the post you are interested in & type or cut & paste your comments in the that window Click on ‘reply’ Your response will be recorded & you should receive an automated response ‘Reply posted and you are now subscribed to this question as well’ Whenever a response is made to a ‘post’ you have subscribed to you have the option to be informed about new posts via email & therefore not be logged in the 4M Expertise website to receive updates to posts you have responded to previously.

Private Messages Create a ‘private’ message If you want to respond direct to the person who added the ‘post’ click the icon that looks like an envelope with the letters ‘PM’ next to the icon – this will load up a separate ‘text box’ - complete ‘message’ and click ‘send’ button to complete process That user will then see a private ‘conversation’ notice the next time they login to the service
