Open Space Technology originated by Harrison Owen Presented by Judith Sheridan
What is the purpose? To set the agenda for the Unconference by encouraging the participants to identify issues and questions, to accept responsibility for convening the sessions and to share the results To ensure that all relevant issues and topics that participants want to discuss are discussed To benefit from the expertise, passions, questions and energy of the participants
The Four Principles Whoever comes is the right people Whatever happens is the only thing that could have happened Whenever it starts is the right time When it is over, it’s over
How does Open Space work? Any member of the group who wants to discuss an issue or pose a question speaks up, writes the topic on a paper, adds his or her name and posts it on the grid Topics may be posted more than once during different times. Any member of the group who is not a convener and wants to participate can join a session Participants can move from one discussion to another if they wish
