Indefinite Pronouns(不定代词) We use indefinite pronouns when we don’t know or don’t need to mention by name the people/thing we are talking about.

people Positive sentences: Listen! Somebody / Someone is singing. There is somebody / someone in the fitting room. Anybody / Anyone who feels tired or weak should wear colours that makes you feel energetic. Everybody / Everyone is here. Let’s start our trip!

someone / somebody: one person some people: more than one person Someone is on the phone now, you have to wait for minutes. Some people are waiting in a line outside the shop.

people Questions: Listen! Is anybody / anyone singing? Is there anybody / anyone in the fitting room? Is everybody / everyone here?

people Negative sentences: There isn’t anybody / anyone in the fitting room. There is nobody / no one in the fitting room. Nobody / No one has come to the party.

anybody / anyone in positive sentences: any persons Was anybody at home at that time? Anybody who breaks the law will be punished by the law.

things Positive sentences: Millie has something to eat. There is something wrong with my watch. Anything is possible. Everything goes well.

nobody / no one & none No one asked for help during the trail. Nobody is on the phone now. None of them will go to Shanghai. None of us have / has been abroad. He did none of his task. Nobody / no one 用以指人。 none可指人也可指物。 none of + 名词／代词

How to modify: 后置定语 Is there anything interesting in today’s newspaper? Someone else got the gold prize. Do you have anything to say for yourself? Anybody who got it should put up his hand.
