Integrating Technology Anne Mumford
What is Technology Integration? The use of technology resources incorporated into daily lessons in the classroom to enhance each student’s education. Some Technology Resources Computers Digital cameras PowerPoint Internet Videos Educational Programs SMART boards Interactive websites Senteoes Educational Videos
Why Should Technology be integrated? Technology is becoming a huge part of civilization; people use it on a daily basis. It intrigues students and makes them interested to learn. This will cause the students to have better understanding of the information. The students get a basic education related to technology and become more advanced.
How can educators integrate technology? Creating interactive SMARTboard lessons to get students involved. SMARTboard allows me to do anything from playing a shape game or have students practice writing throughout the lesson. Assess students by using different tests using Senteoes. This will give me a better idea of who needs help on what topic. Create a website, news letters, and podcasts to tell parents what their children are learning and to tell students’ what they missed if absent.
Effectively Integrating Technology Teachers have to first learn how to use the different technologies by playing around with them or attending different trainings. They then have to incorporate it in their lesson and throughout the classroom. They have to use many different activities and technologies to see what is affective for their students. They have to discover different ways to use it throughout the classrooms for not only them to use but for their students to as well allowing the students to stay interactive also.
Effectively Integrating Technology If an educator successfully and effectively integrates technology into their classroom they will enhance student’s education by interacting with the students in every activity they do and making them use their imagination and their knowledge to interact. It is important for teachers to assess their students and see what affectively works in their classroom and what doesn’t. The goal of educating is to affectively teach each individual student and make sure they all understand the lesson. Technology just makes it easier for teachers follow through with their goal.
I personally know how to use… Microsoft Word Interactive PowerPoint SMARTboards (including the applications that are related to it) Senteoes Digital Cameras Educational Videos Brochures/Letters (to inform parents) Virtual Progressive Adventure (VPA) SWISH Photo Story
Incorporating Digital Cameras I chose from a template showing many uses for the digital camera in the classroom. I picked the ABC Hunt which is where after learning about the letters of the alphabet, they have to go on an ABC hunt which consists off the student’s finding different objects that start with a specific letter of the alphabet and continue as they learn more letters. After they completed finding their pictures they can put it together into a PowerPoint to show all of their hard work. Click on the title of this slide to follow the link to see how I incorporated Digital Cameras in the classroom.
Virtual Progressive Adventure The focus of a Virtual Progressive Adventure (VPA) is to create a story that has an educational purpose and make it interactive for the students to follow along with it. The purpose of using a story to educate the students instead of just teaching them the facts is because they will retain the information better while learning through the story. To view the VPA that I created about learning how to take care of pets click the title of this slide.
Incorporating SWISH A SWISH is a movie that teaches students a lesson while being exciting. SWISH allows you to teach anything through this movie. It allows students to be very fascinated by the video while learning. To see the SWISH I made related to numbers with a catchy song click on the title of this slide.
These activities are useful because… These examples are only a few ways to incorporate different types of technologies in the classroom. These technologies and activities help students learn by getting them more interactive in the classrooms and lessons. They are all focused on enhancing the student’s education and help them retain the information by teaching different strategies to help them understand the lesson.
