POWERPOINT TIPS

Tip #1 – Font size Don’t use tiny font Try to use a font size of 32 or Higher… People in the back need to be able to read what’s on the screen

Tip #2 – Graphs Make sure the graphs are large enough to read easily. YES  * Also, make sure your histograms have an appropriate bar width and starting spot!

Tip #3 – Summary tables Do not just copy table from Fathom. We can’t read it! NO  mean 6.1 std dev 2.9 min 2 Q1 4 Med 5.5 Q3 8 max 14 IQR n 35 YES 

DON’T PUT TOO MUCH ON ONE PAGE!!! Tip #4 – Page Layout Females: LF = -8.68 – 1.5(7.83) = -20.425 UF = -0.85 + 1.5(7.83) = 10.895 Upper outlier at 19.19 Males LF = -5.745 – 1.5(5.885) = -14.5725 UF = 0.14 + 1.5(5.885) = 8.9675 No outliers DON’T PUT TOO MUCH ON ONE PAGE!!! Females are skewed right, unimodal, with an upper outlier at 19.19 Males are symmetric, unimodal, with no outliers The median for the females of -2.85 is slightly lower than the median for the males of -2.08. The IQR for the females of 7.83 is larger than the IQR for the males of 5.885

Tip #5 Use animations, pictures, and transitions Remember to have the content down first. Pretty pictures and cool animations are not a substitute for good content. It’s like putting lipstick on a pig…

Tip #6- what can I copy to my ppt from Fathom? YES! NO!

Tip #7 – Know your PowerPoint You have to present your PowerPoint so make sure you know what is on it and in what order. Make sure you have printed out the slides (6 to a page) that you can look through before presenting. You must also have printed slides for me to look at .
