University Christian Outreach Bible Study Series Mark Chapter 4:21-34

Parables παραβολη = placing beside, similitude. Three characteristics of parables: 1. they’re easy to understand. 2. they have a hidden depth of meaning. 3. they both conceal and reveal.

Study and Group Discussion • Context: what comes before and after – where is our passage situated? • Quick outline: how would you divide up this passage into an outline? • Highlight the words that you think are “key terms” for the passage. Why are these words important? • Are there any Old Testament passages that this text reminds you of? Are there other N.T. passages that come to mind? • Do you have any questions about this passage?
