Exchange Programs

LONG-term exchanges usually last one year, during which you attend school and live with families in your host country. To gain a greater Under- standing of the culture, you will live with at least two, preferably three, host families during your stay. To ensure your safety, the host Rotary club conscientiously screens and selects all host families.

Short-term exchanges vary in length from several days to several weeks. Although you generally would not attend school in the host country, you may be able to tailor the exchange to match your interests or to include tours of specific places or regions. The four most common types of short-term exchanges are home stays, tours, family-to-family, and international youth camps.

New Generations exchanges usually last from a few weeks to three months, making this a suitable option for recent secondary school graduates, young professionals, and Rotaractors. These exchanges may be arranged for individuals or groups and can involve home-stays, tours, or camps. Exchanges can also include a vocational element, and some districts offer specialized internships, depending on where your exchange takes place. New Generations exchanges provide the opportunity to learn about a different culture while fostering goodwill & understanding.

What are the Objectives of RYE? What does the Student gain? Who is Eligible? What does the Student gain?

Objectives: To promote International Goodwill & understanding. To enable students to study in a different environment for a year. To broaden ones outlook while living in different cultures. Eligibility: Min Std X with above average academic performance. Pleasant & outgoing personality & confidence to fit in the role of an Ambassador. Good command over English & ability and desire to learn a new foreign language. Rotarian’s children are eligible but receive no special preference.
