REGISTRAR, EKITI STATE UNIVERSITY PROJECTING THE IMAGE OF EKITI STATE UNIVERSITY THROUGH IMPROVED STUDENTS’ ADMISSIONS AND EXAMINATION PROCESSING A PAPER DELIVERED AT THE EDUCATION SUMMIT HELD ON THURSAY, 4TH FEBRUARY, 2016 BY MR. E.A. OGUNYEMI REGISTRAR, EKITI STATE UNIVERSITY ADO EKITI

THE UNIVERSITY Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti established in 1982 as Obafemi Awolowo University. Started with 135 pioneer students 38 academic and 96 non-teaching members of staff. Now accommodates over 20,000 regular students spread across 11 Faculties, academic Institutes and Directorates.

The core values of the University include the following: Academic Integrity Accountability Caring for the well-being of staff and students Fairness in all relationships with staff and students irrespective of age and gender High standards of personal honesty and ethical behavior vi. Openness and shared governance vii. Confidentiality in handling all official information viii. Pursuit of excellence in teaching, research and services ix. Respect for tradition and culture x. Probity in judgment and action

The University in the 90s POSITIVE IMAGE Admission over-subscribed Improved staff and student discipline Regular attendance of lecturers and students at lectures Timely release of examination results Examination misconduct was a rarity Falsification of results and forgery of certificate was hardly heard of. The University produced highly competitive graduates. Prompt submission of draft minutes. Timely communication of decisions reached at meetings Requests for transcript were promptly attended to POSITIVE IMAGE

Current Situation NEGA T I V E IMAGE Irregular academic calendar Incessant strike actions Late release of examination results Inability to meet demands for transcript High incidence of result/certificate counterfeiting Low admission patronage Poor attitude to work Inadequate facilities Poor internet connectivity

ADMISSIONS In the last three years, the University has not been able to meet its admission quota. The table below shows the percentage of admission in the last three sessions.
