Prognosis Sarnat Stage Clinical Symptoms Outcome 1 Unaffected 2 Mild hyper-alert, irritable and hyper-reflexic; sympathetic autonomic symptoms, Normal EEG; Symptoms resolve by 2 days and neurological examination normal by 1-2 weeks Unaffected 2  Moderate Lethargy, mild hypotonia, hyper-reflexic; Parasympathetic autonomic symptoms; Seizures and abnormal EEG; Symptoms last 2-14 days 25% develop cerebral palsy 3 Severe stuporous, flaccid, hypo-reflexic; depressed autonomic function; Seizures uncommon, suppressed EEG; Symptoms may persist for weeks disabilty or death likely
