EHDI White Paper -- Electronic Clincial Quality Measure (eCQM) IHE QRPH 2017-2018 Proposed Work Item
The Problem Quality measurement and reporting cause administrative burden on hospitals. The growing number of different quality reporting programs, the use of distinct performance measures by each, and the periodic adjustments to these measures causes further burden and coordination challenges Recent advances in the definition and use of electronic clinical quality measures represent an opportunity to reduce the burden on clinical systems to support quality improvement initiatives. Unfortunately, the use of new standards supporting eCQMs are complex and many implementers are not familiar with how to utilize these emerging technologies.
Use Case – Hearing Screening before hospital discharge (EHDI-1a, CMS31, NQF1354)
Proposed work White paper to provide foundational knowledge of the standards and types of standards involved in quality measurement: QDM, CQL, HQMF, and QRDA. This white paper could also introduce and summarize work on DEX and ADX while providing a wider view into the range of standards development work emerging in the area of secondary data re-use to support quality improvement and public health. address some of the current challenges with the use of these standards and the barriers to data interoperability, especially in the area of EHR data re-use for new eCQM measure definitions discuss differences and challenges for shifting focus from process quality measures to outcome measures
EHDI White Paper – Close-loop care planning IHE QRPH 2017-2018 Proposed Work Item
The Problem Close-loop care planning is a subject of interest, given recent advance in digitization and interoperability of care planning information Current work in EHDI Hearing Plan of Care focuses only on the creation and exchange of the care plan, but not how the document is utilized to track the completion of the interventions specified in the plan and update of the plan.
Use Case The EHDI use case provides a small but scalable environment for envisioning and testing the use of a close-loop process to identify hearing care needs, plan for specific interventions, track the completion of those interventions, then update the care plan accordingly
Proposed Work This white paper will describe how the EHDI Hearing Plan of Care standard supports this type of close-loop communication process and the exchange of the information needed for close-loop processing of care plan information. It will describe updating of the EHDI Hearing Plan of Care (HPoC) document as planning screening, testing, and other interventions are performed.
