Pacific Northwest Emily, Izabella, Cameron, and Arda

Introduction The Kwakiutl tribe was one of three tribes in the Pacific Northwest. (They lived in villages of long houses) The Makah was another tribe that lived in the Pacific Northwest. (They built canoes to hunt at sea) The third tribe is the Chinook.(They lived at the mouth of the Columbia River)

Pacific North West houses The pacific north west tribes all built the same houses witch were called long houses. Long houses could be over 60 ft long. Long houses were made out of wood witch was easy to find because of the nearby forests. Long houses were made out of wooden planks witch were sometimes removed when they cooked indoor meals. Multiple famlies would live in a longhouse.

Pacific Northwest (Food, Locations, Climate and Natural Resources) Food They ate Whale, Salmon Sturgeon, and Shellfish and some tribes ate nuts and berries During a whale hunt the chief harpooner would show respect to the animal by singing a song, promising to give the Whales gifts if it allowed it’s self to be killed The Forests Rivers were full of fish Every dish was made out of wood Food, Location, Climate and Natural Resources The Whale bone was used a tool They had many rivers Whale fat was used in many ways They had mountains and forests that were full of animals They had adobe to build houses It was very cold and rainy
