Background: Why DARIAH 2020? DARIAH moves toward the end of its construction phase in 2019 It has reached a level of organisational maturity It has an established team, a strong and solid network of partners and a fit-for-purpose set of structures to support its mission and goals. Its community has produced a number of fundamental reports and papers Central aggregation point of several other documents Action Plan High-level Principles DARIAH-ERIC Statutes Towards a strategy for DARIAH Data fluidity in DARIAH

What is DARIAH 2020? A Strategic Action Plan (Jan 2017 – Dec 2018) preparing for DARIAH’s operational phase from Aug 2019 + It ensures that DARIAH’s activities are clearly focused and bring value to our research communities It translates DARIAH’s high-level goals and principles into concrete objectives and actions, with specific delivery dates and responsibility It ensures that DARIAH both ‘does things right’ and ‘does the right things’ Developed via a thorough process of consultation

6 Objectives Develop and agree the Strategic Action Plan Create and populate the ‘DARIAH Marketplace’ Sharpen external communications and networks Sharpen internal communications, procedures and vision Enhance profile in training and education Support and promote research communities through the DARIAH Working Groups and other structures

Actions to meet the 6 objectives Develop and agree the Strategic Action Plan - Complete the Action Plan (Q4 2017) - Develop a comprehensive Strategic Plan (Draft Q4 2018) 2. Create and populate the ‘DARIAH Marketplace’ - Define what it is and how it works (Q2 2017, Launch 2018) - Stabilise course registry infrastructure (Q2 2017) - Feasibility study for a Project Registry (Q3 2017, Launch 2018) - Technical interoperability (EduGain) (Q4 2017)

Actions to meet the 6 objectives 3. Sharpen external communications and networks (I) - Redesign DARIAH Website (Q1 2017, Q3 2017) - Taskforce to clarify the DARIAH “brand” (start Q3 2017) - Launch DARIAH Ambassadors Programme (Q3 2017) - Protocols to support and sustain DARIAH-affiliated research projects (Proposal Q4 2017, Service Q4 2018) - Policy to sharpen and broaden participation in projects (Q3 2017) - Data Reuse Charter (start Q2 2017) - DARIAH Helpdesk (Q2 2018) - Key relationships mapping (start Q2 2017) - Events strategy (Q2 2017) - Foresight leadership (Q1 2018)

Actions to meet the 6 objectives 4. Sharpen internal communications, procedures & vision - Revive the Senior Management Team (Q1 2017) - Define role of the JRC and VCC Heads, WGs (Q3 2017) - Synthesise National DARIAH Roadmaps (Q3 2017) - Improve knowledge management (Q4 2017) 5. Enhance profile in training and education - Systematic capture of DARIAH events (Q4 2017) - Consolidate DARIAH training materials (Q1 2019)

Actions to meet the 6 objectives 6. Support and promote research communities through the DARIAH Working Groups and other structures - 2-year rolling calendar for DARIAH funding calls (Q4 2017) - Application procedures for DARIAH funding calls (Q4 2017) - Outreach beyond core DARIAH Membership (Plan for Q2 2018)

Timeframe & Monitoring 3 Levels of monitoring: (i) shared online monitoring tool, (ii) monitoring progress @ SMT meetings, (iii) Annual Report
