CUA Sponsored Summer Camps Training Goals Define pre-employment screening and training requirements. Provide resident hall resources and emergency information. Review camp operating procedures.

CUA Sponsored Summer Camps Training Prior to the camp the following requirements must be completed: A pre-employment screening process through Human Resources Completion of on-line training provided by United Educators Completion of any forms required by your School, Department or Human Resources

CUA Sponsored Summer Camps Training United Educators Training Establish registration at edurisklearning.org and complete the on-line module “Protecting children from sexual misconduct” Key take-away understandings: Identify proper boundaries and conduct when working with minors. Remember who to report misconduct within your camp structure and the reporting requirements. Contact the Department of Public Safety for any emergency situation at 202-319-5111

CUA Sponsored Summer Camps Training Resident Hall Resources Review the summer housing rules: http://conferences.cua.edu/res/docs/2015-Summer-Housing-Rules.pdf Each resident hall have been assigned residential summer assistants “SA” who are the equivalent of the school year “RA’s”. Establish a relationship with your “SA” Learn the layout of your resident hall and recognize emergency procedures identified on the emergency policy posters and postings on the back of your room door. Report all emergencies to the Department of Public Safety at 202-319-5111

CUA Sponsored Summer Camps Training This sign is very familiar to residents of the Catholic University of America Campus. It’s a CUA Emergency Policy Guide posted in all Campus buildings in order to help facilitate a Shelter in Place posture, or to promote total evacuation. The large circle in the upper right hand corner next to the building is the building assembly point where evacuees assemble for accountability and instruction. .

CUA Sponsored Summer Camps Training Emergency Evacuation Event Occurs (fire, smoke, smell smoke) Fire alarm activated by person that discovers emergency condition Occupants immediately stop all activities and evacuate building from the closest available exit Notify Public Safety from a safe location (campus emergency blue light phone system) Report to pre-determined building assembly area (refer to posters throughout building prior to emergency) Await further instructions from an official
