Ir-Religjon Through the Maltese National Curriculum, students realise that the Maltese were always devout Catholics who practised these values more than today. There were many forms of prayer throughout the day and night. In many houses, street corners and places of work, a shelf or corner was reserved to show this religious devotion. These were adorned with statuettes, holy pictures or paintings, religious icons etc. A glass containing oil usually served as a candle.

Il-Festi Most of our students enjoy the local feasts especially during the summer months. Feasts are renowned for the grand celebrations both in and out of church up to this day.

Il-Festi On saints' days, or feasts, the ceremonies start with religious prayers. These are still followed by band processions, fireworks, and stalls. On the final day a statue of the religious patron is taken around the local streets with the faithful following in respectful prayer . In the beginning, feasts were celebrated on the actual saint’s day. Later on feasts began to be celebrated during the summer months due to the cold rainy weather,as more outside- celebrations increased.

This form of religious celebration is once again becoming popular in many Maltese schools. Our students celebrate Christmas, Lenten Activities, Corpus Christi & Easter processions both at school and outside. Il-Purcissjoni

Carnival English Project Works Il-Karnival is usually celebrated at the end of February or the beginning of March. The five days of celebration before Lent evolve around music, dance and song at its height with the traditional carnival floats which decorate the capital city’s streets with their vivid colours and merrymaking.
