n_TOF “Draft” plans for YETS 17-18 and LS2 D. Macina (EN-STI)
n_TOF LOCATION n_TOF Control Room (bld. 603) n_TOF Electronic lab n_TOF EAR1 (bld. 802) n_TOF EAR2 (bld. 380)
YETS 2017-2018 Mini DAQ in the electronic lab (mostly EN-STI-ECE) Access: link it to the IMPACT and new SIR course (BE-ICS-AC) Vacuum: new gauge in EAR1 (TE-VSC-BVO, C. Collomb Patton) Control Room: installation technical network or trusted machine (EN-STI-ECE) Consolidation work on the grounding in EAR1 and EAR2 (EN-STI-ECE) Gas point in EAR2: shield from sun and rain (EN-EA-CT, D. Jaillet, and, depending on the choice, SMB-SE) n_TOF local team: Sample exchanger EAR1 (modification of the mechanics) Alignment (consolidation work on the laser system in both areas) Add Bismuth filter in EAR1 (to be decided)
Mini DAQ in the electronic lab (bld. 547) new DAQ machine (Mx..) new timing machine (for generating the triggers) Merger/proxy machine?? (to send data to CASTOR) SP-Device card Ethernet outlet N.B. Two months delivery for most of the items
n_TOF underground areas close to EAR1 Collimator & gauge
New gauge in EAR1
extra plates and screws The grounding of this cable tray should be understood Grounding EAR1 The grounding of this plate should be properly done (now we have only a safety grounding) These metallic tiles should be properly connected (not with tape) For example put extra plates and screws Common ground between Bunker and rack area
Grounding EAR2 Re-check the common ground Cleaner ground? Project for LS2?
I only cover the n_TOF EAR1, EAR2, CR and Elab LS2 Three different projects going on: Replacement n_TOF target (see with M. Calviani) Irradiation area project (see with O. Aberle, E. Chiaveri) n_TOF experimental areas: EAR1, EAR2, control room (CR) and electronic lab (Elab) I only cover the n_TOF EAR1, EAR2, CR and Elab
LS2 EAR1: movable collimator (EN-EA-EC, A. Bouvard, Coordination EN-STI-TCD O. Aberle) New permanent magnet in EAR1 (TE-MSC-MNC, P. Thonet, TE-EPC-MPC, K. Papastergiou) Move rack area outside beam area Re-arrange the electronic lab
EAR1: movable collimator This is the collimator in front of the experimental area. The collimator aperture (80 mm ø or 18 mm ø ) needs to be changed according to the type of experiment. The collimator exchange takes about 1 day. The idea is to have the two collimators both placed on sliding rails to quickly connect to the beam pipe the one to be used for the ongoing experiment. This reduces the collimator exchange time to a few minutes (venting and pumping will still be needed)
Permanent magnet in EAR1 Install a permanent (sweeping ) magnet in EAR1. Gain: No upgrade of the power supply No need for maintenance and operation Presently working on: Simulation of the magnetic field vs n_TOF physics Design of the new magnet according to the simulation output Integration Courtesy A. Bouvard
Re-locate the rack area either or Move the rack area outside the beam area to access it also during beam time: either to 804-U0-B01 (where the sweeping magnet power supply is located) or to 804-U0-B02 (old CR)
Re-locate the rack area either OR or Move the rack area outside the beam area to access it also during beam time: either to 804-U0-B01 (where the sweeping magnet power supply is located) or to 804-U0-B02 (old CR) To be checked: Cable trays Rack grounding ~ 50 m longer cables ! old cables need to be replaced with new ones as well as the patch panels even if the rack area is not re-located
Re-arrange the Elab Get the whole space in the barrack Set-up a test bench with: clean areas dark boxes Electronic work etc
Summary: projects involving groups outside STI YETS 2017-2018 Access: link it to the IMPACT and new SIR course (BE-ICS-AC) Vacuum: new gauge in EAR1 (TE-VSC-BVO, C.
