monograms

What makes a good monogram? Is simple in design Is visually striking Can be reproduced to any size Uses a limited amount of colors Looks as good in black and white or greyscale Must be memorable Looks good on a light or dark background.

Thumbnail sketch-5 sketches Using your first initial and last initial draw at least 5 ideas on your piece of paper for your monogram. How can you combine the letters? Will you use a shape behind or next to the monogram? Also what colors represent you and why?

typefaces Your monogram needs to have easy to read typefaces. The typefaces need to be professional. You need to change the typefaces in some way. DO NOT use the typeface without changing it some way. You can use multiple typeface.

How to start Type our your initials (you can use your middle name initial if you would like). Pick a typeface or two that would represent you as a professional (not a student) Rearrange and manipulate the font to create an interesting monogram Think about shape, do you want to create box or circle around your initials? Make sure you have interesting negative space! This makes for a more creative logo.
