“Octavian Goga” Cluj County Library “Octavian Goga” Cluj County Library is one of the biggest public library in Romania that has a new building perfectly adapted to the needs of users. Our library plays a distinct role in the cultural life of Cluj city, due to its dynamic and pro-active attitude and to its openness to new challenges.

Steps for creating new services for teens Needs assessment for adolescents and young adults Planning adolescent programs in public libraries Implementing programs for teenagers in public libraries Promoting programs for adolescents in public libraries Evaluation of adolescent programs in public libraries

Needs assessment Methods of identifying user needs: Library statistics; Surveys applied to users as well as to non-users or stakeholders (e.g. schools, high schools, universities); Focus groups with users or non-users; Statistics on the use of resources on the Internet (if the library has such services); Direct discussions of librarians with users; their suggestions, for example on working hours or on library collections.

How to attract young people to the library? Active involvement and consultation of young people in decisions relating to programs dedicated to them; Adapting library services and introducing new services for teenagers; Transforming library space.
