4 ‘Texts’ to study: Shakespeare play 19th century novel Modern play Literature: 4 ‘Texts’ to study: Shakespeare play 19th century novel Modern play Poetry So, a lot of quotes to learn!

Can you learn these words in the next 10 minutes? Sudden successive flights of bullets streak the silence. Less deadly than the air that shudders black with snow

Students will have to learn quotations from all of their texts.

How can students learn quotes from the books they have to study? Record themselves saying some quotes/ download recordings and then they can listen to them on their journey to school! Test their friends on the way home! Give them the start of the quote & see if they can finish it. Parents, you can test them too!

Use the internet: GCSE Pod. Lit charts. Mr Bruff. BBC GCSE Bitesize. Sparknotes No Fear Shakespeare

More than anything else Students need to re-read their texts!

English Language Two papers: Paper 1: Fiction reading & writing. Paper 2: Non-fiction reading & writing.

About Masterclasses. Students need to be achieving more than half marks on each question if they are to gain a ‘pass’ at GCSE! We have already taught all of the skills needed in year 10. Now, in year 11, we are reviewing them one step at a time.

About Masterclasses. Your son/daughter will be expected to attend after- school Masterclasses if they are struggling to achieve the marks we know they need/believe they are capable of achieving. These will start next week and will be on a Monday and a Wednesday. Students only need attend one or the other, and then re-try a question at home and present it for marking. We really appreciate your support with this.

Can you remember the quote I gave you Can you remember the quote I gave you?! Turn to the person next to you and test each other. Sudden… successive flights of… bullets… streak the silence less deadly than… the air that shudders black with snow
