Year 1 Project Highlights The original goal of Project SHARE was to engage the network in a review of prior funded NLM health information literacy models and to select one for sustainable replication within the AHEC context.

Boston AHEC Challenges: Successes: Retention Project Completers: 8 Challenges: Retention Updating students as they missed sessions Successes: Process debriefs for planning Extended project time-line to complete PSAs We had a very concise and clear project plan which contributed to our success.

Brooklyn-Queens- Long Island AHEC Project Completers: 8 Challenges: Enrollment and retention Guest speakers and field trips Successes: Individualized student attention Make-up sessions available 28 students in the summer health internship program- 3 lessons

Colorado AHEC (both sites) Project Completers: approximately 20 Challenges: Internet access and availability Registering/tracking students Data entry/collection Successes: Revised planning focused the project Enhanced tribal relationships Also had additional students exposed to HL in a 2-day program via project REACH.

Eastern Connecticut AHEC Project Completers: 26 Challenges: Numerous tribal deaths/trauma Data entry/collection Successes: Relationships with IHS, tribal human resources and tribal elders continue to benefit Plan additional instruction time as make-up sessions for unforeseen delays and to be flexible with different reading levels amongst the youth.

Montana AHEC Challenges: Successes: Distance to program site Project Completers: 16 Challenges: Distance to program site Blended school and project environment Data entry/collection Successes: Innovative classroom activities Statewide promotion of Project SHARE curriculum Curriculum will be embedded into various science classrooms throughout the state.

In-Class Project Completers 81 Students (90% completion) Ninety students originally anticipated. Overall decrease of 9 students. Additional Reach: Approximately 214 students exposed to some health information literacy curricula.

Data Collected 55/81 Post-Tests Completed (68%) 49/81 Focus Group Participants (60%) Data analysis being completed by NLM professional evaluator
