Your local transportation department & elected officials Your Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO)
Regional Commissions: State-mandated planning agencies that prepare plans and analysis for future economic, land use and transportation needs for 12 regions in Georgia. MPOs: Federally designated agencies for urban areas w/ pop > 50,000 people. 15 MPOs in GA. Conduct comprehensive planning for transportation & prioritize projects (including bicycle projects) for federal funding. Create Long Range Plans and Transportation Improvement Programs In some areas, the RC is the MPO.
