We are learning about character and setting. Please listen to your child read the assigned story each Monday night. Spelling: We will be learning about words with short vowels. Grammar: We will be learning how to write complete sentences. Math: We will be learning about geometry. Each child will be able to work ahead to the next unit as soon as they have mastered this one. Science/Social Studies: We will be learning the difference between rural and urban communities. Thank you! Thank you for all the school supply donations! They will be very helpful! Transportation Changes: Please always send a note if there are afternoon transportation changes. Students panic if they don’t know what to do! Spelling Info: There are 3 groups of words on the spelling list. 1. Spelling Words- Your child must learn to spell these words only. 2. High Frequency Words- They need to be able to read these words independently. 3. Vocabulary Words- They need to be able to use the in a sentence for the Reading Test. They need to know the correct meaning and usage of each Vocabulary word. They do not have to spell the High Frequency or the Vocabulary Words for the Spelling Test. Spelling Words 1. rock 9. rib 2. list 10.mess 3. desk 11. dust 4. job 12. drum 5. sad 13.with 6. chop 14.have 7. sack 15. them 8. tag 16. some Don’t Forget: Please remember to return all school paperwork as soon as possible! It is important for the nurse and office to have updated information. Thank you! Snacks Please send a snack and water or juice drink with your child Monday-Thursday. Please do not send candy or soft drinks. Thanks! Weekly Homework Nightly: Study Spelling Words-the test will be on Friday. Mon.-Read the new reading story aloud to an adult. Have them to sign the signature sheet in the book. Only sign for the current story. Please don’t sign in advance. We will have a Reading, Spelling and Grammar test every Friday.
