The Color purple background info By Fernando Leon, Anis Estrella Naomi Daily, Guillermo Sainz

About the author. Born February 9, 1944 in Eatonton, GA, which is a farming community in Middle Georgia. Has written 5 novels, 4 books of essays and 5 poetry books. The most famous of her books is of course The Color Purple which was nominated for a National Book Critics' Award, and won a American Book Award. Was the first African-American ever to win the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction.

About the book The book is based on the story focuses on the life of women of color in the south area of the U.S in the 1930s. Addressing numerous issues including their exceedingly low position in American social culture. It was written in 1982 and is a challenged novel.

The Progress of the book. The book has been up and coming for 31 years now being used to educate and entertain it’s readers. Though it has been challenged this book has strived through with its imagery and motifs.
