OPL One Point Lesson Tips for Giving Positive Feedback (Recognition) Be sincere – when you add appreciation to the specifics of positive feedback, your message carries an extra oomph of sincerity! Do it appropriately – small recognition for small successes; bigger recognition for bigger successes! Be specific – don’t just say “good job. Include specific skills used and tasks accomplished so the behaviour can be repeated Do it often – don’t wait for big successes – celebrate the small wins too! Do it now – say something right away. Don’t wait for a “better” time. Reinforce good behaviours at the time the task is being done. Be consistent share feedback on a regular basis.
