1 2 SUGAR CANE, SUGAR AND RUM the rum proximity chart © Cane stalk Rhum Agricole Cane Juice Grassy, Funky Cachaça Pure Syrup Authentic Rum Vegetal, Caramel 2 Sugar Refining Refined Sugar Aguardiente Hot, Alcohol Rhum Industrielle Conventional Rum Hot, Bitter, Flavored Molasses Stage 1 rums are made directly from unrefined cane juice, BEFORE it is used for sugar manufacturing. Stage 2 rums are made from molasses,(a by- product of sugar refining) from refined sugar or a combination of the two. Richland Rum is a Stage 1 Rum, made directly from unrefined cane juice. The fresh juice is condensed first by gently applying heat, letting water evaporate and allowing sugar to caramelize. This approach enriches the flavor and aroma profiles.
