How to Present your Business Idea
Presentation transcript:

Mini business plan

Business Idea In pairs think of a successful business idea (it can be a product or service). Spend around 10-15 minutes on this – no more! This idea will fall under one of the following areas – it may be… An innovation i.e. completely new An improvement to an existing product or service An identification of a niche (gap) in the market i.e. something that you think is needed

The task Your task is to create a brief Powerpoint presentation addressing the following areas in relation to your business idea:

marketing Price: roughly what price/range of prices will you charge Product: why will customers buy your product over anyone elses? This is called the Unique Selling Point (USP). Explain what yours is. Place: how will you sell your product? Via the internet, a department store, mail order… Promotion: how will you inform people about your product and encourage them to buy? Advertising, sponsorship, free gifts…

Human resources What jobs will be needed in your company? Roughly how many people will you need to employ? What skills or qualities should your staff have?

finance Assume you are starting up in business: How much money will you need to start your business? Where will you get your money from?

Final instructions 1 Powerpoint presentation should be done for each pair – please make sure that you share the workload Presentations should be uploaded to Moodle and you will present them in class They should last around a 3 – 4 minutes per pair Do not waste time playing around with the background, sound effects and animation – complete the content first and then look at design and animation Marks will be awarded for completing all sections of the Task and for doing so thoroughly. Make sure the names of the 2 people that did the presentation appear on the first slide.
