Teacher slide on river Severn stuff Use geography matters 1 p 61-66 In groups are given one of the settlements along the river severn. They have find a property (3 bedroomed between 200 and 250k roughly) in that settlement and sell it to the rest of the class Criteria: a)well described settlement using geography key words b)Reference to OS maps c) Be able to ‘sell’ your area to the rest of the class d) Be able to explain how any perceived disadvantages can be overcome Use www.rightmove.co.uk

Living Along the river Severn In todays lesson and the next one you will be working as a team of estate agents trying to find the right “location location location” for a couple with 2 young children who are house hunting. They want to live in the river Severn valley and have up to £250k to spend on a 3 bedroom house. They want you to present back to them after about 20 minutes of next lesson.

How good is your work? Level 3 You describe the settlement where the house is Level 4 You describe the settlement and use map evidence to back this up Level 5 You complete level 4 in detail and explain why it would be a good place to buy a house (again using map evidence) Level 6 You complete level 5 in detail and compare the site of your house and settlement to a different settlement. You use map evidence to justify which settlement you think is better to live in Level 7 You do all of level 6 using detailed analysis of the map and other resources you have found

Changing Customer Demands Your client has been reading about different areas of settlements. They now also want to know which area the house you are suggesting is in. they have given you a choice of 4 to choose from: Urban: CBD Urban: Inner City Urban: Suburbs Rural: Hamlet or other settlement They would like to know what are the advantages of living in this particular type of area
