Contact tab overview
NOTE: You will only be able to see your regions contacts Contacts tab Audience > Contacts On the contact dashboard you can search for contacts Actions: View, upload, create new contact, copy and delete NOTE: You will only be able to see your regions contacts

Contact information Double clicking on a specific contact will open the contact panel with several options and information about it.
Information for each specific contact Get all the information about your contact navigating through the following tabs: Summary Field Details Preferences Campaigns Activity Logs Scoring Linked records
What is a segment
What is a segment? A segment is a group of contacts who share one or more common characteristics. Segments can be used to filter contacts based on a pre-set criteria. Examples of types of filters include: job title, company, location, business industry, type of interaction with a website or event
Where to find and create a segment? Segments can be found under the Audience tab and Segment section Once there, click Create a segment > Blank Segment
Segment Components
Segment components Demographics criteria: Country,Job title, business industry Interaction criteria: visited website, landing page, filled fomrs Exclusion criteria Specific people Added by searching names or email address The contact must already be in the database Upload of contacts with Excel and CSV files Allows you to choose from a list of saved common resources Available shared filter and lists can be viewed by selecting Shared Library from the Contacts menu

Shared filters (1) Shared filters can be found under the audience tab and tools sections
Shared filters (2) Have the same criteria than segments Can be used on campaign canvas as decision steps to exclude specific people or differentiate message based on different group of people Dynamic updating with contacts data

Shared lists (2) Usually a blank list at the begin which is fed via a campaign Different shared list action and decisions possible in campaigns Shared list actions and decisions steps allow to exclude specific people or differentiate message Can manage people in shared list (export, remove, move or add) from your campaign

Segment Components
Segments based on filter criteria (1) Updated number of recipient will only show up after having saved your segment Drag & Drop criteria Link between criteria can be “AND” or “OR”
Segments based on filter criteria (2) Switch to Exclude option To exclude specific group of people (e.g excluded people who already filled a specific form) Right click on the filter criteria
Segments based on filter criteria (3) Set up a criteria Example: We want a segment with people related to the scholastic industry and who has been sent a specific email previously Double click on the criteria Select the field (contact or account field) Select an option such as contains, starts with, matches… Select or type the value
Segment based on Individual contacts Click the + button Look for the contacts you want to include in there Remember that the contacts have to be in the data base
Segment based on upload contacts (1) When you click the upload contacts button this window will show up Make sure your file is in Excel or CSV format Click the cloud button to upload your file Essentials columns you have to have in your spreadsheet are: first name, last name, email address and marcomms
Segment based on upload contacts (2) Double check that all your columns match Click “Next Step”
Segment based on upload contacts (3) Make sure that the “email address” field is selected for “uniquely match contacts on”. The email address is like the ID of your contacts in Eloqua Make sure the source fields (column names in your spreadsheet) and target field match (how the field is called in Eloqua) Click Next Step
Segment based on upload contacts (4) You can select the email address you want to sent the notification to when the segment is uploaded successfully Click Finish You should receive the notification email confirming the upload shortly after that
