Short Biography. Lifespan: 1496-1542 Family: Second son of Spanish hidalgo. Career: Spanish Conquistador and Explorer. He was the first European to explore Southeast Africa and Florida. Hernando sailed for the country of Spain.

Hernando’s Voyages. He wanted to claim land for himself and for Spain. Hernando went on 3 voyages. Hernando went to Southeast Africa, Florida, and to Spain on his voyages.

Main Goal. To conquer Florida for Spain and he was successful He also fought for gold.

Ships. Esperanza San Christoval Miguel

Death. He died crossing the Mississippi. He was struck with fever. He died on May 21,1542

In Conclusion! Hernando de Soto was born on 1496. He died on May 21,1542. He went on 3 voyages. The names of his ships are Esperanza, San Christoval, and Miguel
