Change in mass = after mass - before mass Day 6-   E1 E2 E3 Change in Mass (g) Change in Vinegar (ml) How do they look? Change in mass = after mass - before mass Change in vinegar = after amount - before amount

Change in mass = after mass - before mass Day 11-   E1 E2 E3 Change in Mass (g) Change in Liquid (ml) How do they look? Change in mass = after mass - before mass Change in liquid = after amount - before amount

The change in mass of eggs placed in 3 different solutions based on osmosis. E1 - Corn Syrup E2 – Distilled H2O E3 – Salt H2O

Paragraph 1 - Restate the problem and each of your hypotheses. The problem is listed right on the top of the front page of your lab sheet. You do not need to write what is in parentheses. When you are restating your hypotheses, stop when you get to the word “because.” See the following example: I predicted that if corn syrup was (______________) then the mass of the egg would (___________________). I predicted that if distilled water was (______________) then the mass of the egg would (__________________). I predicted that if salt water was (______________) then the mass of the egg would (___________________).

Paragraph 2 – Summarize what we did for each day: Day 1, what did we do? Found the mass of our 3 eggs. Placed each egg in 100mL of vinegar to remove their shells. Day 6, what did we do? After shells were removed, we again found the mass of each egg. Next, we placed each egg in 100mL of 3 different solutions (corn syrup, distilled water, salt water). Day 11, what did we do? Once again, we found the mass of our eggs. We also measured the remaining liquid from the cups.

Paragraph 3 – Explain How the MV affected the RV (What does the bar graph show?): The bar graph shows that when E1 was placed in corn syrup, the mass of the egg ___________. The change in mass for E1 after being placed in the corn syrup for 5 days was ___________. The bar graph shows that when E2 was placed in distilled water, the mass of the egg ___________. The change in mass for E2 after being placed in the distilled water for 5 days was ___________. The bar graph shows that when E3 was placed in salt water, the mass of the egg ___________. The change in mass for E3 after being placed in the salt water for 5 days was ___________.

Paragraph 4 – Explain Whether or Not the Results Supported Your Hypothesis. The data collected shows that when E1 was placed in the corn syrup, the mass ____________. This happened because___________________________________________________________(explain the changes of the egg’s mass in terms of osmosis). This proves/disproves my hypothesis. The data collected shows that when E2 was placed in the distilled water, the mass ____________. This happened because_______________________________________________________(explain the changes of the egg’s mass in terms of osmosis). This proves/disproves my hypothesis. The data collected shows that when E3 was placed in the salt water, the mass ____________. This happened because___________________________________________________________(explain the changes of the egg’s mass in terms of osmosis). This proves/disproves my hypothesis.

Paragraph 5 – Future Experiments Explain questions you may have had during this experiment. What other questions about osmosis would you like to test? In the future I would ________________________________________________ __________________________________________________________________________ _________________________________________________________________________.

Photosynthesis: What do you already know? What types of organisms carryout photosynthesis? Plants Animals What organelle is responsible for carrying out photosynthesis? Mitochondria Cell Wall Cytoplasm Chloroplasts What raw materials are needed for photosynthesis to take place? Glucose (sugar) and Oxygen Water and Oxygen Carbon Dioxide and Water Carbon Dioxide and Oxygen What are the products of photosynthesis?
