Future: Basic Research User activities: cognitive resources, opportunities, restrictions Group activities: contribution of sociology, “shared cognition”, … Issues: What makes a pleasurable experience that leads to sustained use? Understand, name, predict … Ordinary experimental methodology does not apply as conditions cannot be controlled on the field. We now focus in everyday life of people. What about professional or media-oriented activities?

Future: User Informed Design Individual methods Process: UCPCD Mk II Process support Issues: User involvement in design? Difficult Room for user creativity with the result is still absolutely necessary Parallelism with technological development Inclusion of further viewpoints (business design)

Future: Constructive Research Interaction design Prototyping: lo-fi, hi-fi Toolkits, software engineering Issues: How to realise plentiful opportunities for co- operation within HIIT? The group’s present strength is not in interaction design (esp. multimodal interaction, novel technologies). Make or buy? Field test design, execution, analysis – more experience needed in larger scale tests
