#wereadhere Extra Help/Questions What If I’m Absent? 7 North LA #wereadhere 2016-2017 Extra Help/Questions Morning HW Sessions What If I’m Absent? 2016-2017 Mrs. Benko is available in the mornings from 8:10-8:30 for student questions and make up work with prior arrangements. Send an email or ask if you can come the next morning. Tests must be made up in the Testing Center or during a study hall. If a student is not completing his/her HW, he/she will be assigned to a Morning Homework Session to be served the following day. Work must be completed, the form must be signed by a parent and the student must attend at 8:15. Failure to do any of these will result in the student having to attend Lunch Bunch for lunch. YES, WE DID SOMETHING IMPORTANT WHILE YOU WERE ABSENT. It is the student’s responsibility to check the class website and Google Classroom to find any assignments missed. A student has the number of days absent to make up any work assigned on a day a student was absent. If an assessment was administered on a day a student was absent, the test must be made up on the first day the student returns. If previously assigned work was due on the day of the absence, the work is due on the first day the student returns. Make up work is the student’s responsibility. Technology Chromebooks will be used daily in Language Arts. The majority of class assignments, projects, and assessments will be completed digitally through the Google Classroom. Students are expected to bring their chromebook fully charged each day. Students should also bring earbuds or headphones to class daily. Students should record their reading status and be ready to read. When not using the chromebook in class for an assignment, it should be closed. Students should use the technology to check for class updates at home and in school. Students are expected to abide by all school and district digital safety rules and guidelines. No games. No messaging. Failure to do so will result in student being banned from technology. Academic Integrity We are SC! Cheating or any behaviors that look like cheating (talking during test, passing notes, writing on hand, etc.) will not be tolerated. Students will earn a 0 for that assignment and a office referral will be made. Plagiarism is the taking ideas and writings of another and passing them off as one’s own. In this class, plagiarism/cheating includes... 1. turning in another’s work as one’s own 2. copying work from a friend before class (or while in another class) 3. including information from a source but failing to cite it 4. copying an author’s exact words and passing them off as one’s own Students caught plagiarizing will earn a 0 for the assignment. *Reading is to the mind what exercise is to the body! *If you can read, you can learn anything! *I’m so excited to be your teacher this year! I, ________________________________________, have read and understand the rules and expectations for Language Arts. I acknowledge that it is my responsibility to contact my teacher if I have any questions or concerns. I know that this syllabus, assignments, calendars, and resources are available to me on Google Classroom and the class website. I will be ready with an independent reading book each day. I will start class with reading, and I will read for 30 minutes at least four times a week. Student signature ________________________________ Parent signature ____________________________________
