Wearing My Helmet Lets Me Have Fun By Brittney Fitts

When I am safe I can have fun. When I ride my horse at Dreamcatchers, I have fun. Before I can get on my horse, I must put on my helmet. Wearing my helmet keeps me safe. When I am safe I can have fun.

My instructor wants me to get on my horse and have fun! First she will bring me my helmet and put it on my head. Next she will adjust and snap the chinstrap. Then she will adjust the back. An adjusted helmet on my head keeps me safe, so I can get on my horse and have fun.

When I am safe, I can stay on my horse and have fun. The sidewalkers want me to stay on my horse the whole time and have fun. They will move my helmet if it slides too far forward over my eyes or too far back making it tight. They will fix my chin strap so it stays under my chin. When I am safe, I can stay on my horse and have fun.

My parents want me to feed my horse and have fun. My parents will wait by the gate while I walk over to get my bucket and treat. They will wait while the horse eats. And they will wait while I put my bucket away.

When I am done doing all those things, my parents will help me take off my helmet. Waiting to take off my helmet until I am all done keeps me safe. When I am safe, I can have fun.

It is important to stay safe so I can do all of these exciting things. At Dreamcatchers I may ride my horse inside or outside. I may play a game or do an obstacle course. Sometimes my horse trots fast or bouncy. When I get off, I feed my horse a treat. It is important to stay safe so I can do all of these exciting things.

I wonder what my horse and I will get to do the next time I wear my helmet?
