Students will collaborate daily to increase their levels of problem solving, critical thinking, teamwork, design skills and productive perseverance.

KINDERGARTEN STUDENTS WILL: Calendar KINDERGARTEN STUDENTS WILL: Develop skills in math, reading, and writing Learn the days of the week, months of the year, and today’s date Foster responsibility and community through active student participation

Behavior Expectations KINDERGARTEN STUDENTS WILL: Behave in a way that promotes learning Walk across our campus quietly, with hands to self, and eyes forward Listen to teachers, students, and guests Understand school and classroom rules and consequences Demonstrate good character and citizenship

Homework Homework: A homework calendar will be sent home at the start of every month. Homework will be checked each week on Friday. Please help your child to be responsible for their folder. Have your child do their work as an established routine. Please check their work and be sure to sign that it is completed.

Specials Our specials are P.E. (x2), Music (x2), Library (with checkout), and Computer Lab. We have a six day rotation for each special. The specials for the month are on a paper calendar, and they can be found in their purple folder. Students are expected to behave and follow all directions. If a student doesn’t, they will bring home a yellow slip from the specials teacher.

Snack Time Please send in a healthy snack with your child each day, with their name on it Snacks are usually eaten outside during morning recess Examples of healthy snacks: whole grain crackers, pretzels, fresh fruit—please avoid all junk food please Please send a water bottle (labeled with name) to school with your child each day.

Lunch Students may bring a lunch from home or purchase a lunch from school Cost of a lunch is $2.75 per day Create an account to automatically pay and reload your child’s account at: schoolbucks.com (Also an app for iPhone) We need volunteers the first 2 weeks of school!

Conferences We have teacher/parent conferences twice a year: at the end of August and the middle of February Additional conferences will be scheduled in advance with the teacher if needed.

Report Cards Kindergarteners do not receive letter grades, instead progress is marked with the indicators mastery (M), progressing (P), or area of concern (AC).

First Week of School You are welcome to walk your child to his/her classroom the first week of school Please label your child’s backpack, water bottle and lunchbox (if bringing lunch) If picking your child up in a car, make sure to have a blue sign in the front dashboard with your child’s name and teacher for an easier pick-up Make sure you have filled out the form about where/how your child goes after school

Thank you for attending. I am happy to address any further questions about general kindergarten topics. If you have a specific question regarding your child, please fill out an orange slip on the tables, I will review them over the weekend and contact you next week.
