Brandon Rudney Tony Campos Michael Seabury Saahill Shah Emil In the 1950s, fear that the Soviets were seeking to spread communism led to the Red Scare. What are some examples of how the Red Scare affected people within the United States? To what extent was the drive to root out communists justified Brandon Rudney Tony Campos Michael Seabury Saahill Shah Emil

Red Scare The fear that communists both outside and inside America were working to destroy American life.

Ethel and Julius Rosenberg were accused of being spies for the Soviet Union Alger Hiss was a government official who passed on information on the atomic bomb to the Russians

After the trials of Alger Hiss and the Rosenbergs, citizens and government officials began to panic. Many producers, writers, and directors were targeted and were blacklisted as communists and had their careers ruined

Joseph McCarthy Joseph McCarthy made accusations that the U.S. government was infested with communist spies He prosecuted many people He attacked the U.S. Army and General George Marshall, and lost support because of his unfounded accusations and bullying tactics

McCarthy went after communists to help the U.S. Although he was trying to get rid of communists, the bullying tactics he used went too far
