Does this paint a 3-D picture?
Lines Elevation If you walk along a slope without going up or down you will be following a line on the same elevation or topographic line
Low water level The line is long and follows the outline of the island
Medium water level The line around the island is shorter
High water level The line is very short with only the very top showing.

Note the cross section Look at the steep slope on the right side
How high is the peak at D & C? You must ask “what is the contour interval?” or space between contours 10 meter, 100 feet? This map shows 10 meters. The peak height is 30m plus. What if the interval is 200 meters.
If doesn’t matter what the interval is, closer is steeper, wider is flatter. How steep will be depend on the contour interval
What terrain is between A & C? Flat > increasing slope > steeper > peak > shallower down slope > getting steeper as the drainage is crossed
Look at what you know, road- shoreline-penisula building-river- drainages- steep slope- peak height
