eduLab Call 18RFP Version May 2017 Welcome & introduce self.

About eduLab eduLab is an MOE-NIE initiative designed to surface and spread ground-up ICT-based pedagogical innovations. eduLab partners teachers in developing theoretically-informed ICT-based pedagogical innovations while ensuring that these innovations can potentially be adopted by different schools across the system. eduLab is supported by eduLab@AST, a physical centre located at the Academy of Singapore Teachers, set up to showcase completed projects and provide opportunities for exchanging ideas and networking with leading researchers, industry experts and fellow educators. Our primary target group is ground up innovation by educators in the primary, secondary and JC levels (MOE funded schools). IHL comes in to compliment the program as we believe there is innovations from IHLs that are already being used or piloted in schools (PoC). Innovations that tie in with the curriculum and we are interested in bringing these innovations to the next level (eg. Easy adoption, scability in a sustainable manner)

eduLab projects An eduLab project must involve 2 or more partner schools (primary, secondary or JC level) to be completed within a 2 to 3 year time frame. It must feature an ICT-Based Innovation which supports teaching and learning practices in the classroom and beyond with a view towards wide adoption in a sustainable manner as an end goal. Teachers involved in the project should play a key role in co-developing and testing the innovation, co-designing lesson packages and carrying out school-based research activities. Consistent with 21st Century competencies, the ideas for an eduLab project must involve one or more curricular subjects at the Primary, Secondary or Junior College levels, satisfying at least 1 of the following thematic focus, namely ICT for Self-Directed Learning, ICT for Collaborative Learning and ICT in Assessment. All eduLab projects will be published and shared with schools across the system.

Project Categorization by Tier Projects are categorized into three different Tiers according to the funding level. Project Categorization by Tier Tier Amount 1A < $50K 1B ≥$50K but <$99K 2 ≥$100K but <$250K 3 > $250K

During the process, the panel would give suggestions (e.g. scale down project budget, revise implementation schedule, revise the scope) for PIs’ consideration.   After all PIs have presented, there will be a closed door session for the panel to select the projects that they would like to support. Items to think about Classroom Implementation Will it be easy to adopt? Sustainability Your research questions Do you have any Proof Of Concept? How do you measure your PoC/effectiveness of your innovation? What are your deliverables? Classroom implementation – help from Co-Pis (teachers or researchers who are experience in such areas 3. Sustainability – will the practice continue after end of project, is it expensive to continue the practice Deliverables – lessons learnt – RQs + what is left behind at the end of project.
