Adventures in Computational Thinking By: Abraham Ko CSE 3 Fluency with Information Technology (FIT) Dynamic Webpage Programming with JavaScript From our labs on JavaScript, we were able to acquire the extended skills to the functions to make webpages. We were able to create our own loops and even make our own black jack game. I really liked the fact that I was able to grasp a greater understanding of loops. Computational Thinking Throughout the course of my labs, I gained the basic, yet essential abilities of HTML. Many labs consisted of web designing and others made use of the MS programs of Excel, Word, and Power Point. These programs proved to have necessary use in today’s technological society. Desktop Publishing with MS Word Learning new functions on MS word, we practiced the functions of text boxes and tagging our table of contents with sections to our page. I enjoyed making my own career plan. Visual Programming with Alice Utilizing the Alice program, we spent time playing with the functions of the program to create short movies of characters by mobilizing them. I really enjoyed making my own functioning clock. Making Information Available to the World with HTML and Web Pages To learn the basic skills of HTML, we learned to construct our own webpages. I really enjoyed anchoring links to my pictures. Presentation of Information with MS PowerPoint Through our assignment on power points, we learned the necessary skills to make bar graphs and pie charts to compare information to one another. I was able to gain skills of graph making on power point. Data Analysis and Visualization with MS Excel As we explored the functions of MS Excel, we underwent the processes of graph making with the information of our future yearly expenditures. I enjoyed seeing how my money would have to be spent in the future.
