Every day at noon the third grade students in Mrs Every day at noon the third grade students in Mrs. Cimato’s class are treated with an hour of recess. Mrs. Cimato says “have fun boys and girls run around , play sports, jump rope, or play pretend and let your imaginations soar.” Dee, one of Mrs. Cimato’s students just got a new teddy bear for her birthday and couldn’t wait to play with it

“Yay its recess time” Dee exclaimed, “I can’t wait to play with my new toy” “I love you little bear,” Dee said, “You are my favorite toy!” She ran back and forth, even up and down swinging her bear by her side “Look everyone, my new bear can do so many tricks ” she yelled laughing with every step she took. Student 1: Wow that’s so cool Student 2: that looks fun Student 3: I really like your new toy

Ali, one of her classmates then asked, “Can I play with it too?” “No!” Dee said, “It’s Mine, no one else can play with it!” The little girl became very sad and said Ali: “That’s not nice Dee, you should share!” and walked away

Dee continued to play with her new toy and thought about what Ali had said to her about sharing. “I can’t share” she thought “what if they break it or won’t give it back to me” “no I won’t let anyone else play with my new toy!” “I’m pooped” she said “I need to get some water, will you watch my lawn mower for me while I’m gone” she asked her friend Raychel. “But don’t play with it!” Raychel was so happy Dee had asked her to watch her new toy for her “Sir yes sir!! I will take good care of it” Raychel said. “No one will be able to play with it while you’re gone” Dee ran as fast as she could to go get a drink of water, she didn’t want to be away from her toy for too long….. And when she got back she couldn’t believe what she saw!!

Raychel and Emma were fighting over her new toy! Raychel: “No you can’t play with It” Emma: “Give it to me!” Raychel: “It’s not yours” At that moment Deecame back and started yelling , Dee: “NO NO NO what is going on!” “No one can touch my toy but me” All of Dee’s classmates then decided they didn’t want to play with her or her toy since she didn’t know how to share!

Twenty minutes went by and Dee started to get bored of playing with her toy and also very lonely Dee went up to two of her classmates and said “oh that looks like fun can I play with you too” The two girls just looked at each other and said “No, you wouldn’t let us play with you” Dee was sad but she went to go find someone else to play with. she saw two girls playing with unicorns and said “I love unicorns can I play with you too” But the girls said “No, you wouldn’t let me play with you”

Dee felt very sad that no one wanted to play with her “I wonder if my friends felt this sad when I said they couldn’t play with me and my new toy” she said So she thought…. “maybe if I learn to share my toy everyone will be happy and we can all play together” So Dee talked to all her friends and said “ I would like to share my new toy with everyone!”

All the kids cheered Class: “YAYYY!” For the rest of recess all the kids played together and had the best time ever Student 1: “ This is the best recess ever” Student 2: “This is fun!” Dee: “I love sharing” Once recess was over Mrs. Cimato asked all the students “what did everyone do during recess today” And all the kids shouted Students: “We shared”

“Mrs. Cimato, I want to thank everyone for teaching me how to share “Mrs. Cimato, I want to thank everyone for teaching me how to share! When we share everyone can play together and everyone is happy” Mrs. Cimato Smiled proudly at her students “what a great lesson everyone learned about sharing today”
