Current library system environment Linnea2 consortia – universities, some special libraries Melinda metadata repository Voyager Aleph AMKIT consortia- universities of applient sciences Sierra Axiell Aurora Micromarc KOHA PrettyLib Finna - discovery Public and special libraries systems VuFind open source Finto - ontology Skosmos open source

What we are looking for New solutions to replace current Voyager- and Aleph-systems Working plan is to have new systems operating in the end of 2018 -> start tendering in autumn 2016 Modern modular system that has APIs for integrating the system with other systems and services in libraries system environment Workflows for handling all kinds of materials: prints, electronic and digital Description environment That enables distributed metadata production and possibilities to move forward in production of open linked metadata Is able to serve all kinds of libraries with several different systems

Central services for libraries need to be integrated with new system Melinda metadata repository Metadata production and sharing for all kinds of libraries having several different systems Finna discovery service Discovery service for libraries, museums and archives Developed by National Library with OSS VuFind Finto ontology service Service for publishing ontologies Developed by National Library with OSS Skosmos

Melinda, Finna and Finna central services

New metadata production environment

Finna Metadata is harvested from local systems to Finna-index (OAI-PMH) Via API Availability check Library functions: renewing loans, holds and requests, requests from storage, payments, patron information, card information SFX used as link resolver Primo Central Index used for international e-material search

Melinda – current workflows Libraries are cataloging to Melinda Academic libraries use Aleph –client Public libraries us Axiell Aurora –client (API to Aleph cataloging) Metadata is synchronized/replicated between Melinda and local catalogue Metadata is filtered and edited by following specific rules for each local catalogue Metadata can be changed also on local system Melinda does not include holdings or item information Inhouse developed protocols for duplication-control Inhouse developed protocols for handling component parts (mother and child records for f.ex music)

Thank you!
