Red dots is the daily average from ESTOC time-series. Grey dots is the time-series . Left wind rose is the current deployment, right wind rose is the total time-series. A vector presentation of the wind is the figure at the left side of the roses ATMOSPHERIC VARIABLES

PHYSICAL & CHEMICAL VARIABLES SA 17.1 - Central East Atlantic acidification and productivity WP 10 – Service Activities Results- Warm Spring 17 Blue dots is the current deployment. Red dots is the daily average from ESTOC time-series. Grey dots is the time-series . Emphasize the higher values of temperature during spring 2017 compared with historical data PHYSICAL & CHEMICAL VARIABLES

Annual Cycle of pH – SensorLab (ESTOC & E1-M3A) SA 17.1 - Central East Atlantic acidification and productivity WP 10 – Service Activities Annual Cycle of pH – SensorLab (ESTOC & E1-M3A) ACHIEVED A COMPLETE ANNUAL CYCLE USING A NEW SENSOR. COMPARISON WITH A SIMILAR PH ANNUAL CYCLE ACHIEVED AT THE E1-M3A (ANOTHER FIXO3 OBSERVATORY) OBTAINING SIMILAR PROPORTIONALITY SST AND PH RANGES AT ESTOC THAN THAT FROM THE GREECE OBSERVATORY. IN ADDITION THE DATA FROM THE SENSOR ARE EASILY HARMONIZED WITH THE HISTORICAL DATA AT ESTOC. In Collaboration with M. González-Dávila, University of Las Palmas of G.C. ESTOC E1-M3A 0,09 pH range 0,18 7 SST range (ºc) 14

Prepared by Climate Prediction Center, NCEP/NOAA, April 8, 2016 SA 17.1 - Central East Atlantic acidification and productivity WP 10 – Service Activities Winter Salinity Anomaly – EL NIÑO => +NAO MAXIMA in SST anomaly 21 January 1998 ->1.23ºC 24 January 2016 ->1.24ºC THE MAXIMA IN SST ANOMALY DETECTED IN WINTER 2016 COINCIDES WITH SIMILAR VALUES FOUND DURING WINTER 1998. BOTH CORRESPONDS WITH THE LAST TWO STRONGEST EL NIÑO EVENTS. A RECENT NOAA PRESENTATION SUPPORTS THIS VARIABILITY DUE TO POSITIVE PHASE OF NAO Prepared by Climate Prediction Center, NCEP/NOAA, April 8, 2016
