Tonight We Look At Various Sins of the Flesh They all are equal in how evil they are and what they will do to your soul

God has the resolution 1 Tim 6:3-5 If anyone teaches otherwise and does not consent to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which accords with godliness, 4 he is proud, knowing nothing, but is obsessed with disputes and arguments over words, from which come envy, strife, reviling, evil suspicions, 5 useless wranglings of men of corrupt minds and destitute of the truth, who suppose that godliness is a means of gain. From such withdraw yourself.

If you have the proper love God’s plan works perfectly John 13:34-35 A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. 35 By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another."

But when it is absent, all kinds of things happen that are evil And we find ourselves in a struggle with the evil forces of this world

Idolatry Finally we learn something not to do and we seem to accept it as being evil but then we realize what Col 3:5 teaches Col 3:5 Therefore put to death your members which are on the earth: fornication, uncleanness, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry Any sin or desire that we put before God becomes idolatry

Hatred Ps 25:19 Consider my enemies, for they are many; And they hate me with cruel hatred . Ps 109:3 They have also surrounded me with words of hatred Prov 10:12 Hatred stirs up strife Prov 10:18 Whoever hides hatred has lying lips

Contentions – Quarrel – Variance - Wrangling Do you mean that Christians aren’t suppose to quarrel and fight against each other Prov 17:14 The beginning of strife is like releasing water; Therefore stop contention before a quarrel starts. Prov 20:3 It is honorable for a man to stop striving, Since any fool can start a quarrel

Contentions – Quarrel – Variance - Wrangling 2 Tim 2:24-26 And a servant of the Lord must not quarrel but be gentle to all, able to teach, patient, 25 in humility correcting those who are in opposition, if God perhaps will grant them repentance, so that they may know the truth, 26 and that they may come to their senses and escape the snare of the devil, having been taken captive by him to do his will.

Emulations – Jealousy Prov 6:34-35 For jealousy is a husband's fury; Therefore he will not spare in the day of vengeance. 35 He will accept no recompense, Nor will he be appeased though you give many gifts. Causes us to lose control and often in blind rage

Wrath – Indignation - Fierceness God used this often in judgment Ps 78:49 He cast on them the fierceness of His anger, Wrath, indignation , and trouble, By sending angels of destruction among them. Ps 69:24 Pour out Your indignation upon them, And let Your wrathful anger take hold of them.

Wrath – Indignation - Fierceness Why is it not meant for us to have this It is reserved for God only at the judgment Rev 14:9-11 "If anyone worships the beast and his image, and receives his mark on his forehead or on his hand, 10 he himself shall also drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out full strength into the cup of His indignation . He shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels and in the presence of the Lamb.

Strife – Problems between people, a battle ensues Prov 10:12 Hatred stirs up strife Prov 15:18 A wrathful man stirs up strife Prov 13:10 By pride comes nothing but strife Prov 26:21 As charcoal is to burning coals, and wood to fire, So is a contentious man to kindle strife .

Heresies - a schism- sect – a heretic – bringing in false teachers 2 Peter 2:1-3 But there were also false prophets among the people, even as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies , even denying the Lord who bought them, and bring on themselves swift destruction. 2 And many will follow their destructive ways, because of whom the way of truth will be blasphemed. 3 By covetousness they will exploit you with deceptive words; for a long time their judgment has not been idle, and their destruction does not slumber.

What do these all have in common Gal 5:21 those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. God will hold us accountable for our actions Gal 5:24-25 And those who are Christ's have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. 25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit
